Spencer Krug has released a new solo piano version of I’ll Believe in Anything, revisiting one of the most recognizable songs from his work with Wolf Parade. The track appears on his upcoming EP, which focuses on stripped-down piano arrangements.
In a statement shared alongside the release, Krug explained that he wanted to approach the song from a different angle, slowing it down and letting the melody stand on its own. The original version, first heard on Wolf Parade’s 2005 debut album Apologies to the Queen Mary, became a defining moment for the band. Its driving energy and emotional urgency helped introduce the group to a wider audience.
This new interpretation moves in the opposite direction. Built around a solitary piano, the arrangement softens the intensity and draws attention to the lyrics and phrasing. The structure remains intact, but the mood feels more reflective.
The release is part of Krug’s ongoing solo work, which often centers on intimate, minimal production. The EP continues that approach, offering familiar material in a quieter, more focused setting.
